The beauty of the movie is that it does not take itself serious, but the characters take themselves and everything around them seriously. John Waters is a strange man. A genuinely ridiculous good time.
There are moments of absurdity that will make adults laugh. It's a kids movie with theology deeper that you might expect. Though in some spots the theology is shallower that it should be.
