P.S. Movies about dead spouses make for a morbid date night. Hillary Swank is great in her role as someone dealing with the nuances of loss and living with loss. The movie shakes up thoughts about life without that someone. Better romance than comedy in this romantic comedy.
This movie isn't actually funny. It may be funny if you watch it with people who think it is funny, but really, it's not funny. It's like they had one joke and built a movie to tell that joke. The joke is they invent the alley-oop, there I just saved you two hours of not funny.
If you don't get everything, you aren't alone and you probably aren't even sure if you're supposed to understand all the imagery. Whimsy ala Burton via absurdity and humanity. Each character is grounded in reality but is used to draw the viewer into a fantastic world. I'd recommend this movie to anyone old enough to watch it.
Fun Fact: Miley Cyrus, aka Hannah Montana, is in this movie.
Wall-E, is adorable. The whole movie was quietly preachy, but still pretty spot on. Without using many words it speaks volumes and tells a great story about a genuinely heroic character. Pixar made it, go ahead and love it, you know you will. I know I did.
The movie fails to live up to the hype. How could anything live up to the hype that it received? Heath Ledger lived up to the hype. Don't let your kids see this. Just because it's not bloody doesn't mean it's not brutally violent and disturbing.
